CAPTAIN JACK

Captain Jack

Captain Jack is one of the most famous pop acts of the 1990s and was created by Wiesbaden-based music producer Udo Niebergall. The red cap and military uniform are the unmistakable trademarks of the act. As a headliner, Captain Jack is an essential part of major 90s festivals all across Europe.
With 19 Gold and Platinum awards, 40 million records sold (singles, albums, compilations, downloads), and global hits such as “Drill Instructor,” “Soldier Soldier,” “Iko Iko,” and “Captain Jack,” the success speaks for itself. In 2006, Bruce Lacy stepped into the footsteps of Franky Gee and continues the project more successfully than ever.

Here comes the new—and probably the best—Captain Jack single of all time, accompanied by a spectacular video clip: “In The Army Now” is a cover version of the Status Quo mega-hit that everyone can sing along to. The new video was filmed in a German Bundeswehr barracks as well as at a decommissioned U.S. Air Base and is a tribute to the first music video and smash hit from 1995. In a boot camp setting, 20 girls in camouflage bikinis are drilled by Captain Jack. Instead of real weapons, water pump guns are used—the message is clear: we fight for peace and love! The video has gained over 10 million views on YouTube.

The year 1995 marked the birth of Captain Jack. Originally conceived as a pure studio project, Udo Niebergall began producing the song “Captain Jack” in his recording studio, inviting several singers to participate. The record label EMI Electrola from Cologne recognized the song’s potential and produced a video clip that was spectacular for its time. Featuring many sexy female soldiers and the Captain as a drill instructor wearing his striking red cap, the music videos achieved cult status among fans and music TV channels such as VIVA and MTV.

With a sensational start, the debut single “Captain Jack” achieved Gold and Platinum status throughout Europe. It remained in the German Top 100 single charts for 23 weeks. Awards such as the VIVA Comet (1996) and RSH Gold (1997) followed, along with three ECHO nominations. The Gold-certified debut album “The Mission” conquered the Asian market in 1996.

The 90s revival has Europe firmly in its grip, and Captain Jack remains one of the most recognizable and iconic acts of that era. Whether at the major RTL2 New Year’s Eve Gala at the Brandenburg Gate, SAT.1 Hitgiganten, The Ultimate Chart Show, or RTL’s Das Supertalent, Captain Jack delights young and old alike with his 90s hits and a sensational 45-minute live show.
