Blue Lagoon
A song that instantly evokes summer.
A chorus everyone knows.
And an act that has lost none of its radiance even more than 20 years later.
With their debut single “Break My Stride,” Blue Lagoon scored one of the biggest summer hits of the decade in 2004. The pop-reggae classic achieved Gold status in Germany and Sweden and reached top chart positions internationally – a track that remains a permanent fixture on playlists of numerous radio stations at home and abroad to this day.
Blue Lagoon consists of:
Patty Gerndt and David O’Joseph.
Patty Gerndt, a classically trained singer and pianist, had already charted before Blue Lagoon under the artist name Estrella and today can also be heard as a radio host on Berlin’s station 94.3 rs2.
David O’Joseph, musically influenced by reggae, soul, and hip-hop, blends his African roots with an urban pop sound. Following his radio hit “Butterfly” (2002), “Break My Stride” became their shared success story.
Blue Lagoon was produced by Felix Gauder, a key figure in the European music scene, with a hit-making history spanning decades from the 1990s to today (including work with Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville, Novaspace, Andrea Berg, Maite Kelly, and Art Garfunkel Jr.).
After “Break My Stride,” further chart successes followed, such as:
“Do You Really Want To Hurt Me,”
“Heartbreaker,”
“Isle Of Paradise,”
“What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted,”
and “Wild World.”
